Perhaps I'm pushing the envelope a little too much here, but personally, I don't think so! Were all adults here,..RIGHT!? Although
sex may not be one of our biggest concerns as diabetics, it certainly is just one more thing we have to think about.
I was searching around in my head for different things to write about today and then all of the sudden
this video
popped into my head. I also got the inspiration for this post after I injected 15 units of fast acting insulin and, well, let's just say the mood hit.
I bet that if you're reading this you have had at least one experience with hypoglycemia while "in the moment". Am I wrong? Of course not, it's a part of life and being diabetic that's not very fun. (caution kids, it gets more awkward)

Kerri, our buddy ol' pal here at Blogabetes, sent us bloggers some writing prompts the other day. One prompt that hit home with me was writing about what people can do during these cold months to stay active and keep the pounds off. It is a natural process for us as humans to throw on a few extra lbs as the cold weather starts to approach. With that in mind, I for one, really enjoy working out in MY VERY OWN LIVING ROOM. Even as dedicated as some of us are to working out, it is still a pain to get out into the cold. Nobody likes running to their car, scraping the ice off, and waiting for it warm up just to drive to the gym!! It is hard enough for people to be motivated on the warm days. That's where your living room and your creativity come into play.

It's a milestone - but not one worthy of celebration.
Charlie is approaching five years with this despicable disease.
We can't remember Charlie without diabetes. Charlie can't either. His earliest memories will contain images of blood being taken from his fingertips constantly, being poked with sharp objects and juice being forced down his throat in the middle of the night.
Soon we won't be able to remember a time when Charlie wasn't attached to an insulin pump; a time when tape and tubing and needle wasn't fastened to his body 24 hours a day like some sort of medieval torture device.
I want this to all be a dream that seemed so real.
I want diabetes to be forgotten. Gone so long, the word escapes me.
Gone so long, the word is mispronounced.
We need a cure. We need a cure now.

I am a gamer. I love playing video games either on my PC or on our Nintendo Wii.
2 weeks ago I was able to get my hands on the last Wii Fit being sold at our local retailer. In case you are not familiar with what Wii Fit you should check out this video clip.
Wii Fit is a fitness game from Nintendo that works using the Wii controllers and the Wii Fit Balance Board. The Balance Board is a highly sensitive peripheral that can measure a user’s weight and center of gravity. The software that comes with it can calculate your BMI when told the user’s height.

Recently I got my hands on one of those “diabetes videos”. (It’s a long story about how I got it, but basically someone gave it to me for watching.) Needless to say I wasn’t all that “pumped up” (no pun intended) about viewing it. Although I have to admit, I was a little anxious to get home with it and “inject it” into the DVD player. (Ok sorry, no more puns.)
I was curious about what it might say … as any of us would have been, right??
I guess I was thinking at some point in the video it would tell me the KEY to “unlocking” the mystery of diabetes or that somehow by watching diabetes would magically and mysteriously disappear forever!
FAT CHANCE, RIGHT!?

Man, are my legs killing me. I can barely walk down the stairs while carrying an almost 15 pound baby. What in the world could have made me so sore? I haven't been to the gym or done any exercise videos. But I have not been this sore since I can't remember when.
Then it hits me. We bought a Wii over the weekend. Determined to use the purchase for good, I've been making sure to move as much as possible while playing games. The "purpose" was to get us off the couch and get some "exercise". I just never thought it would work this well.
So far, my favorite game is bowling. I'm not a good bowler in real life, and I'm not a great virtual bowler either. But it's still fun (and somehow I still manage to throw gutter bowls?). My own mother who has never played a video game in her life totally kicks my tail in Wii bowling, too.

Long day.
Long day after a long night after a long day after a long night. Tired. Very tired.
Not in mood tonight to negotiate with Charlie when he throws a minor tantrum because it's shower time.
Angry dad voice comes out. I hate my angry dad voice. I hate using it on any of my kids, but I'm especially regretful after the fact with Charlie.
Charlie whips his head back on to the couch and then lays face down on the floor. I've asked him five times now to come up with me for a shower.
"Charlie! Get. Upstairs. Now!"
He crawls upstairs slowly on hands and knees like a weak desert wanderer searching for water. "Can't," he moans. "I'm so tired."
I'm certain he'd be up the stairs like a leopard if said let's play a video game.
"Charlie! Now!"
The voice in my head tells me
he can't be low, you just tested him. Don't fall for it. He's just being a 5 year old not getting his way. (READ MORE)
