My girlfriend's calling me a diabetic angel, and not to brag, but I kind of feel like one. I experienced some kind of intervention yesterday, or at least something bigger than me, that connected me with a stranger.

Image Credit: Thomas WoodsonI have been pondering traveling the world lately. I can’t quite seem to narrow down exactly what I want to do, but I know it has something to do with traveling the globe, being around others, and spreading peace. The thing I realize, and that we/I sometimes forget, is there is something to be said about a person who just “jumps”. In other words, instead of losing myself in thoughts of what might happen or where I might end up, or how I will get my (diabetic) supplies…I’m more interested in just living and the experiences that come along with it. The idea of just spreading my wings and flying…no matter what happens.

Over the past month, it seems like I've had a lot of "intuitive" feedback. No, I'm not talking about my own psychic revelations. I'm talking about diabetics citing intuition and their body's signals as their diabetes beacon. It seems readers across the web are using their body's feedback as their guiding light to treat blood sugars. And I have to say...I'm not all that pleased.

I can definitely understand where they are coming from in these statements, but I also have to say that I don't think it's a wise choice. At least not for me. For me, it could be a life or death situation.

Sounds like a bad sitcom destined for cancellation, but seriously … what is up with Charlie?

He has had chronic stomach pains for weeks and we don't know what's causing it. We thought maybe he had a bug after he woke us up at 5 am last Saturday to tell us that he was about to vomit. Which he did. Once.

If it is a virus, it's the longest one ever. His blood work came back negative for Celiac disease, but Susanne's gluten-free gut tells her otherwise. The peds want to take him off dairy for a week or two to see if the issue lies there.

He has just been very un-Charlie like and I'm getting concerned. Where is the Charlie that harasses us until submission? That begs us to stay up late and devours everything on his plate? He's not eating because he feels sick when he does.

My averages are definitely down in the last three days. I'm having a lot more lows, but far fewer highs. And the highs I am having, I can pinpoint generally what caused them (which is a heck of a lot different than last week where I was bouncing around for no apparent reason).

Moving the evening Lantus dose up by a few hours has stopped those evening highs, which I'm extremely grateful for considering those highs are the same ones that start my day off. And beginning and ending my days in the 200's is not my idea of good diabetes management.

I don't believe in vaccines. Perhaps it was the family that I grew up in. Or the disease that I've lived with every day since a series of regular, routine vaccines when I was 4 years old. Maybe it's just my own understanding of health and traditional thinking.

But I don't believe in them. However controversial that might be and however many of you might hate/ban/harass me for it, I cannot bring myself to believe in them. And trust me, I have done my research.

When I was 4 years old, my mother took me in for all the regular vaccines. The most memorable for both of us is the MMR because it has since been linked to autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes. Almost immediately, my mom noticed a change in me. I was sick, unlike myself, and in ill health.
