A faithful friend and I discussed several times the concept of praying for signs. For example, "If this, please show me a purple flower." or "If that, please show me a yellow ribbon." I liked this concept and have used it several times.
Recently I've been losing my confidence when it comes to my photography. It's likely that part of the reason is because I haven't been shooting much lately. (I should stick to two of my favorite quotes: "I'm nowhere near where I want to be, but I'm a whole lot closer than I'd be if I hadn't kept going." and "Continue to push yourself until there is a decent possibility you might fail.")
I keep tossing around the idea of doing more advertising on Craigslist (that's how I got a number of clients in the past; it's free and easy and I'm all about free stuff). But I'm nervous.

Dear Nana,
I thought of you the other day when my friend Robb referred to my diabetes as "super diabetes." He then proceeded to tell me that my diabetes was the "hard kind," the kind "I got innocently," and the kind "that can't be cured by losing a few pounds." All of these statements reminded me that although I don't consider myself lucky to have type 1 diabetes, I do consider myself lucky that when it's explained I don't have to deal with miscast stereotypes and assumptions and I don't have to defend my every action.

As college life is coming to a close for me, I've been facing a lot of the "future." I'm constantly asked where I'm headed after this, which is promptly followed with "I have no idea!" There has been tons of ideas thrown at me, tons more that I've toyed with in my head, and tons that I've committed to then changed my mind.
Back in 2007, I started college as an English major. I registered for the basics, which included one intro English class and one sociology class among others. I enjoyed the English class, but I still had no idea what I was doing. Sociology made me ecstatic (one part being the professor I had, the other that it was exactly the way I seem to operate). The next semester, I did the same thing (one creative writing class and one "Psychology of Women" which focused a lot on the social aspects of women).

I'll tell you another secret. I kinda LIKE the Jonas Brothers. Laugh all you want since I am quite a couple decades away from their usual tween-aged fan base. Disney signed them though, and from Annette Funnicello until Miley Cyrus and beyond, Disney has a proven eye for musical talent. (Maybe not class, but definitely talent).
Nick is, at 15, the youngest brother of the singing group (they do have another even younger brother named Frankie - think Andy Gibb snubbed from the BeeGees for his youth). As everyone with any connection to diabetes knows, Nick has had type 1 for almost 3 years.

I am still happy about my day of successful blood sugars yesterday. However, it would turn out, to not quite be the flawless day that I had hoped for. Last night, after I finished writing my Blogabetes entry, I decided that it would feel good to get out of the house and reward myself with a beer. So, I met a friend of mine at one of the bars here in Columbia. After arriving, I checked my sugar, and my meter read 156. I was ok with that. I knew that I would probably just have one beer, since I hardly ever drink anymore. So I thought to myself, "ok, if I have one beer, then I will be ok, because beer doesn't have very many carbs". Well, after hanging out for a while, one beer turned into two.
You can probably relate to that... if your over 21 of course. ;) (READ MORE)
