This is Day Four of my diet. So far, I’ve eaten 30% fruit, 35% vegetables, 25% protein, and 10% potatoes (the potatoes are pulled out of the vegetable category because they are the only source of lasting carbs I eat). No vinegar, no fructose, no dairy products (oh man, I miss my milk and chocolate shakes!), no flour, no yeast, and many other no’s.

Day One wasn’t so bad. I didn’t eat a whole lot, but I didn’t feel all that hungry. My blood sugars were a little above normal. I averaged at 168.

Day Two was about the same. I ate more, a lot more. Diet food apparently makes me want to constantly munch. At least I’m munching low calorie and delicious food! I did splurge and have frozen yogurt that night (completely a NO!), but I didn’t care and I didn’t feel guilty. My average blood sugar was 143, so on track for normal. I started getting low in the afternoon (which I’m treating with organic, nothing added, fruit juice).

Day Three was hard. I had diet burnout (had, I mean HAVE). I went to a restaurant for dinner, where I had trouble coordinating the menu with my list of do not eats. I worked out, which left my blood sugars lower than normal. My average was 114. Perfect! Except for the three lows I had throughout the day.

Day Four has been mediocre. I’m trying to stick to my diet but it seems like every time I turn around I’m having blood sugar issues or seeing pizza. I’m patiently awaiting dinner so that I can have my delicious crock pot meal (vegetables, chicken, a few potatoes, spices and chicken broth). My average half way into the day is 116.

The whole purpose of this diet is to be yeast free (and free of yeast feeding foods). It’s part of the treatment for the bioidentical hormones.

So far I have not seen any improvement in my physical health, but obviously it’s way too early to tell. I’m guessing by the end of next week I’ll be able to see if I think it’s helping or not.

I do like the change in my blood sugars, except for the lows. If I can just figure out exactly what to bolus for some of these foods, I think I’ll be on my way to a much lower average.

I’m also hoping for a change in my weight. So far, I’ve had a minimal change. Now that I’ve added my regular workouts and cardio back into my schedule, I feel I should be dropping the weight in no time. Not to mention my body is slowly getting adjusted to the pills I’ve been on for over a month now.
