**I hate that almost every holiday has turned into a candy holiday. For several years now I have drastically cut down on the amount of candy I give the kids for Easter (along with other holidays). This year, I went shopping for presents and Easter basket goodies on Saturday, which depending on how you think about it was either a great idea or a terrible idea. There were not many choices left in the candy aisle, and about 20 of us standing around looking at reject candy. Being limited, though, was great. Each kid got about six of those tiny chocolate eggs, and about six plastic eggs that had a handful of Skittles or jelly beans in them. I was pretty proud of that. And then on Easter we went to a friend's house. There was an egg hunt. And Uh. Mah. Gawd. did they make out with some serious loot. I emptied all the eggs last night into our community stash of candy where we have Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day leftovers. The bucket is overflowing now. Grrr. I'm going to have to donate some of this candy somewhere.

**I'm practically counting the days until my next endo appointment. It's Monday, by the way. Two major things have happened since the last time I saw him: I started on a pump and my diagnosis changed from type 2 to type 1.5. Not to mention that I think we finally have my pump settings exactly where they need to be. I update my endo every two weeks using online software through MiniMed, so we're totally connected. My fastings, pre-meals, post prandials and random readings have been absolutely fantastic lately. So good that I keep trying to figure out what's wrong with me that could be causing such good numbers (is is time for my period? am I getting sick?). I'm so psyched to see what my A1C is. In January, it was 6.8, which was down from 7.9. I'm hoping for low 6s this time, but with all the tweaks we had to do with my pump, I'm trying to remind myself that it may not have lowered this time. Also, I'm beyond anxious to have the results of the antibody blood tests I'll get while I'm there. I'm an information junkie and a "why" person, so knowing more specifically what's going on (or not going on!) with my pancreas will give me great pleasure.

**I've been inspired by Kim to tell my diagnosis story. I've talked about it in bits and pieces, but I'm not sure I've ever told the whole thing in one swoop. It all started in February 2005, but the real fireworks didn't start until April 1, 2005, when I told my husband that I was pregnant with No. 3. Yes, I had to tell him on April Fool's day. Imagine waking up to this: "Honey, do you know what day it is? Good. What I'm about to tell you is NOT an April Fool's joke."

I'm pretty bummed about how Easter has turned into a spring-time Halloween too. What happened to flowers and leg o'lamb?
I look forward to reading about your diagnosis. Sounds pregnancy-related like mine too!

The candy was very overwhelming and I had a hard time staying away from the jolly ranchers and the whopper eggs...I go to the endo on the 1st too

Try the sugar free versions of candies, I know it might take some gettin used to but just try it, you may not like all of them, I don't like to eat those sugar free chocolate candies but it doesn't mean I can eat the regular kind instead. I'm pretty sure they have sugar free ice creams too, try it, like try mixing one scoop of regular and 1 scoop of sf ice cream together to see how it will be.
