So,what to write about today..? Today I have been having a variety of thoughts and feelings. I have been spending a lot of time examining my life and I have been mulling over lots of things. I have some important things coming up and in looking back on the year, I feel I have done a lot of growing. I can literally feel myself changing and molding into a different and stronger person and adult each day. Recently, I have written about some of my latest experiences both professionally and personally. I have discussed such things as the book I am reading, an upcoming potential career change, and a few personal spiritual adventures I've taken. Each day I try to be happy and I try to reflect on the days events and how they affect me and my (diabetic) life.

I am still reading Eckart Tolle's, "A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purpose". If you haven't heard me or anyone else discuss this book, then I strongly suggest, at the very least, you look into it. I first learned of the book after running into an advertisement online. After checking it out, I discovered Oprah had endorsed it for her book club. I find the book to be extremely interesting and I am fascinated at the depth at which Tolle speaks of the human ego and his knowledge of how our minds work. I have a feeling this book will only continue to rise in popularity and I think it even has the potential to become very historic and change a lot of people. This book has also become very helpful to me because of my professional decision to transition into a new career.

I have my third (and hopeful final) interview this week with a company very near and dear to me (and I am not just saying that because someone with the company might read this :). I have yet to release the name of the company with whom I'm applying with. But hopefully sometime soon I'll have some good news that I can share with you.

In the mean time, I have been taking very good care of myself and controlling my diabetes well. My current regime of 8 units of Lantus in the morning and 8 in the evening, supplemented with Novolog shots, has been really good. I continue to see quality blood sugars and I am still maintaining a very active lifestyle. One of the things I have come to appreciate more lately is listening to meditative type music while I train. I know that may sound kind of funny but maybe you have had similar experiences. I find that even during very high intensity exercise sessions, spiritual music has a calming and healing effect on my mind and it keeps me very focused on the task at hand. If my mind is strong than so is my body and everything else that I do.

As always, thanks for reading my blog today. -Andy

Andy,

Eckart Tolle’s book is currently sitting on my nightstand but my wife is reading it. I may have to play nice and see if she'll let me take a look at it. I'm curious, have you always split your Lantus dose? Did you start out once a day and didn't find it was working well for you? I apologize if you wrote about this earlier and I'm asking questions you've all ready answered. If you ask me, it sounds like you're life is on track. I think you should take some satisfaction and pride in that.

-Kirk

Kirk! Thanks a lot for the comment. GET THAT BOOK FROM HER! :) just kidding of course...anyway, yeah about my Lantus dosing. for the longest time I was taking one big heaping dose of lantus in the morning. I've heard people say they take it at night, and I heard just a little about splitting the dose. I read an article by an endocronologist who spoke about lantus dosing and many other things. If you go back to like page 4 of my old blogs then you will see where I discussed my lantus experiment and wrote about it a couple days. Basically I have had real good results and it's helped reduce my late night lows. I haven't had one in ages! my thoughts about splitting the dose is that it's just one more shot....and I dont care about that! talk to you soon man. -Andy

I'm doing 16-18 units once a day. I've tried mornings but like taking it in the evening much better. I've considered the twice a day routine but always seem to find a reason not to try. Hey Andy, check your spam folder-- I sent you something. Have a good weekend and I'll talk to you soon.

-Kirk

Good luck with your interview!

I split my Levemir dose too....5 units in the morning and 7 units at night. It doesn't hold for 24 hours in my body for some reason. I use Novalog in between these two shots.... am I weird??
