Per usual, I'm tardy.

Resolution #1 in the New Year: I shall try to be more timely.

Actually, I'm not making any resolutions this year. I think I've turned a corner in terms of resolving to lose weight, exercise, eat right, and relax - then not doing any of it. The difference for me in 2007 was that I promised to do nothing - and I did most of the things I would have promised to do if I'd made resolutions.

Go figure.

At the close of December, the year found me down 30 lbs, exercising more and with more vigor than I have since my teens, eating right and enjoying it, in a new - more satisfying - job, getting paid to write (how exciting!). Numbers-wise, I finished the year with an average A1C of 5.7% and my cholesterol levels much lower.

Of course, there were hiccups. Of course, I frustrated myself more regularly than I would have liked. But all in all 2007 was a banner year. A year in which I realized that taking control of my diabetes wasn't enough. A year in which I lost weight for the first time in my adult life without resorting to starving myself, manipulating my insulin doses, or taking diet pills. This has had a profound impact on how I feel about my body and my ability to stay truly healthy and set and achieve physical goals.

For 2008 - no promises - just more running and biking, more hiking and climbing, more rollerskating (don't laugh). And more confidence (than I've ever had) that I'll stay on track.

Rollerskating is awesome! I would never laugh at that!

It sounds like '07 was a good year for you Nicole. Here's to an even better '08!

Well done, Nicole.

Sounds like 2008 is going to be a most excellent year. :-)

Hey Nicole,
I don't know what happened, but the link to Curious Girl disappeared from my Blogroll. I'm not exactly sure when this happened. One day, I just noticed that I didn't remember reading Nicole's blog today. So I tried to get into it via someone else's blog & it says "It doesn't look like you have been invited to read this blog. If you think this is a mistake, you might want to contact the blog author and request an invitation." I probably did something wrong. But thought I would check with you to see if your blog link had changed or something. You can email me at anderdn@yahoo.com if you like.
Hope you have a great 2008!
