Tidbit number one: I almost deleted the message because it sounded like a salesman. We get those calls sometimes--you know, people who leave messages for products or services. I really wonder if they really think they'll get calls back. Anyway, so it actually was a salesman and I still almost deleted it, but then I heard the keywords: Dr. C asked me to give you a call. Then I realized he said he was from Medtronic. So the three "I really hope you're having a good day" comments were part of his sales pitch. Ugh. This is how it starts. I hate being sold to. I mean, if you mask it well, then I guess I'm OK with it, but if you're going to sell me something and you're going to kiss my ass the whole time then I, frankly, don't want to hear it. I'm seriously thinking about telling him upfront, "Dude, don't talk to me like a customer. Talk to me like you're trying to convince your brother to buy your brand of pump. Unless you talk to your brother like he's a customer." I want to talk to this guy, but at the same time I'm almost dreading the conversation.

Tidbit number two: At two hours post breakfast this morning, I checked my blood sugar (115, by the way. Woohoo!). First of all, not enough blood got on the strip. So not only did I have to use another strip, but I had to dig a new bottle of strips out of my bag while I had a huge glob of blood on my finger! I cleaned my finger off with an alcohol swab and headed into a coworker's office to talk about the redesign of one of the magazines we work on. I rested my chin on my left palm and my fingers lightly touched my face. I felt something wet, looked at my fingers and saw blood smeared all over my ring finger. I chuckled and then asked L. if there was blood on my face. Sure enough. I couldn't stop laughing. As I cleaned off my face and my fingers, I said, "At least I can laugh about it."

Quick tidbit number three: I absolutely can't wait to start on the pump. I have to wait until January to really get the process started because we're getting new insurance. But since I can be an uber planner, I've already bugged my HR rep and my endo about anything I can do ahead of time to get things rolling. Hence the call from Medtronic yesterday.

Quick tidbit number four: My hunger has returned lately. I'm not sure if it's because I'm eating more lately or if it's something else. But it's starting to bug me. My stomach starts rumbling as soon as I get up. And nothing seems to satisfy me as of the last few days. Perhaps I'm ovulating or my period is about to start (these are times when I have historically had insatiable hunger). I'm thinking about asking Dr. C about Symlin. But let's get the pump thing down first.
