I'm grateful to live in a part of the country where anything and everything I could possibly want is within a 5-mile radius. My husband and I have occasionally talked about moving out to the country, but then we quickly realize we wouldn't do well out there. Personally, I'm not what you'd call hearty folk. Besides, I couldn't imagine having to drive 30 minutes just to get to the supermarket. Let alone not living a stone's throw from a Whole Foods.

I do the majority of my grocery shopping at a regular supermarket, but a few times a month I make a special trip to Whole Foods. I love that they have ready-to-eat meals that don't wreak havoc on my blood sugar.

I'm one of those diabetics who shun processed foods like white flour, white rice and my personal nemesis corn syrup. Sure there are times when I eat out and don't have much choice but to eat white flour, but if and when I can avoid it, I do. Frankly, there aren't a lot of restaurants that cater to diners like me. Especially ones where you can get a quick healthy meal on the go.

On days when the Wendy's drive thru is calling my name, I'm grateful that Whole Foods is just a few minutes a way. There, I will find:

* Brown Rice Sushi (don't forget the chopsticks)

* Mom's Chicken Soup (practically carb-free)

* Tofu and grilled veggies from the salad bar

* Sobu noodles (made with whole wheat and buckwheat) with organic teriyaki sauce

* Every kind of nut you can imagine

* Almond Butter

* Wheatines (a Saltine type cracker made with whole wheat flour)

* Whole Wheat Ravioli

* Sweet Potato Gnocchi

* And an entire gluten-free baked good section (for my dad)

Do you Whole Foods? If so, what's your favorite healthy treat?
