To describe diabetes in three words is very difficult. That's because at any given time, your thoughts and feelings about this disease are changing. So I guess one word that comes to mind is unpredictable . It is important to note, however, that with better control comes more predictability. I think I view my diabetes as little bit more unpredictable because I have trouble keeping my sugars regulated. I feel a person who can maintain an A1C of 6 can predict their blood sugar a lot more accurate than a person with hemoglobin of 8. Maybe I'm wrong though. Another word that I would use to describe my diabetes is unfair.

Diabetes is unfair because I have it and a lot of people don't. You can say diabetes is unfair because not everyone has to inject insulin everyday to live. But as I began coming up with reasons as to why it is unfair, I was also thinking of why it is. Everything has two sides to it. The popular quote is "isn't life unfair"? It's unfair because some people have tons of money and some are dirt poor. It is unfair because I didn't get to choose to get this kind of life. I think it all comes down to optimism and what's important to you. It is all in how you look at it and this is why I say, "At any given time your thoughts and feelings about this disease are changing". People's moods change and sometimes you're having a good day and other days your feeling down. So the last word that I would use to describe diabetes is wonderful.

Diabetes is wonderful because it just is. I am an optimistic person and I believe that life is a great thing. Yeah, I'll admit that some days are REALLY BAD and I'll be the first to tell you. But usually, with me anyway, it just takes a little bit of time before I am feeling good again. Diabetes is wonderful because I can still live. If you're living than you have to be aware of some of the good out there. Because if you don't see some of the good than you can decide to check out.
