I have been exceptionally busy the past 2 weeks. Company from out of town, big project at work and the common cold making it's rounds in our family. Life with an infant, preschooler, full-time job and 1 hour commute is already pretty busy, so these additions ratchet me up to an unacceptable stress level.
What suffers? My bg (blood glucose) levels, meal planning and my milk supply.
I'm trying to restart the weight loss I enjoyed the first 3 months after the baby was born. I feel like I'm on a tightrope - if I eat enough to keep my milk supply up, I gain weight. If I eat low enough calorie to lose weight, my milk supply plummets. Especially when I'm not getting enough sleep.
I'm frustrated. I'm feeling a bit of mom guilt from having to supplement with formula. Darling baby girl is still getting about 80% MM (mother's milk). I've been visiting various nursing websites to learn about increasing my supply and most of these websites are populated by lactivists. Most of these women feel any less than 100% MM is a crime. And they are not quiet about it.
Fenugreek is often cited as increasing supply - but it's also suspected to lower blood sugar and increase insulin production so I don't want to add it to metformin.
There is not much information about type 2 and milk supply, unfortunately. The nursing mentions I do find just rave about how it lowers your bg levels and may lower insulin resistance. Nothing about actually DOING it.
How does this affect my type 2? Well, stress raises glucose levels. Poor meal planning leads to raised levels and mild hypos.
The company's gone and the project is in hand. I've decided to order Thanksgiving dinner in and just relax the 4 and a half day weekend coming up. Now to just hang on until Wednesday.

I breastfed my son and worked 16 hours days on a road construction crew. You can do this. Dont let the guilt overcome you.Just make sure to drink your water!Please at this time... just try to eat right. Dont worry too much about weight loss at a quick rate. I weighted until my son was about 8 months old to start a weightloss/exercise program.
(I'm type2 also.) I suggest you try exercise in small amounts. When I did that I was running a rough roller. Now, I'm a stay at home mom. Big changes;) My 7th child is now 3! The son that I worked those hours was #2.
Try some gentle stretching exercises. I am not a bounce around type of person. I use T-TAPP the MORE program. I really like it. You can find it and their forum to ask questions at http://www.T-TAPP.com They have a "Mommy" section that is really cool. I'm down from a size 3X to a 14:) I still need to lose about 30 -40 more pounds. I do understand the stress of schedules and meal planning.
What about using crockpot dinners for one or two meals a week? You can put lean meats and veggies in it in the morning and come home to a little bit slower pace here and there.Contact me I'll be glad to help you anyway I can.
