When I made final arrangements to get my Animas Ping my sales rep noted that I should contact my doctor's office about training. I said, "Can't I train myself?" I mean, I'm already a pumper so it's mostly an issue of learning the different features. She is likely supposed to say this, but told me that I should go ahead and take the training. She also mentioned that there is something I can sign declining the training.
I decided to go ahead with the training since it couldn't hurt anything. So naturally when I called my doctor's office they said they don't do pump training and gave me the number for the Animas rep for our area. I was flustered, but shortly got an email from Animas about who would be conducting my training.
I finally got in touch with them yesterday (my first call went unanswered as it was Thanksgiving week) and was informed that although I have been given their information my case hadn't been assigned to them yet. Again, flustered.
I watched the orientation video last night, which spells everything out pretty well. Tells you how to do everything. And since I'm already a pumper I don't need that learning curve that would come with a nonpumper. I really just needed to know the differences in the pumps.
I already have my basal rates set, my insulin:carb ratio is set, my insulin sensitivity factor, etc. I need to watch a few things on the video again mostly because there was so much to soak in and I didn't take notes.
I'm going to go over everything again tonight and likely go ahead and hook up. I really don't see the value at this point in training on something I've pretty much figured out. Do you?

I don't think you need "training". It is a waste of your time, their time, you already pump, you are not a novice
