Today, I was supposed to raise my Symlin from 30 mcg to 45 mcg. Instead, I'm keeping it at 30 mcg for now. Since I've raised it, I've had some severe nausea and that lightheaded feeling that I hate so much. Especially after dinner.

From what I've read, it's best to stay at the lower dose if you're experiencing nausea and give it a few days to subside. I suppose I will just stay at 30 mcg until I'm not experiencing such intense bouts of stomach pain. I don't want to delay the results of the higher dose, but I also don't want to end up worse for the wear because I'm unable to finish meals, keep meals down, etc.

At 30 mcg, I haven't noticed much improvement in my numbers. The spikes are less extreme, but still present. Thanks to a forgetful moment on Sunday night, I forgot my Lantus dose and ended up throwing everything off for the past two days. So yesterday's numbers really don't apply since it was a reduced Lantus injection and today is still playing catch up on the dose. Tonight will go back to 33 units of Lantus to see if I can avoid the lows but not experience any highs.

I also haven't noticed any weight changes or really appetite changes. Symlin is known to cause a "full" feeling faster in diabetics and decrease your overall appetite, which can lead to weight loss. But a week in and I've noticed nothing except the nausea interfering with my eating.

My weight is up by 1.5 pounds despite working out almost every day lately. I attribute this to muscle gain and the lows. Although the workouts are still intense and not getting any easier, I do feel like I've gained muscle in my legs (always the first place I lose weight). I'm loving the routine of these workouts as they are quick and intense. I'm sore after them. I'm challenged throughout them. I can do them without leaving my living room.

We'll see how things continue to play out over the next few days. If my nausea lessens, I may try the 45 mcg. Blood sugars are definitely my number one goal. Sticking to my workout plan (4-5x/week) is also my number one goal.
