After putting a lot of effort into Charlie's Angels every late summer/early fall, I usually slip into a long fundraising hibernation.  I typically wake from it some time in August and start all over again. This year I slept a little longer.

It's later than usual, but I'm feeling energized to continue our tradition of raising lots of dough for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It looks like we're finally going to have our first annual Charlie's Angels "Smack a Marshmallow for Diabetes" fundraiser at a local golf course. I've been wanting to do this for a while. I met with a guy from the golf course on Saturday and he seemed excited about it. As an experiment, we had a golf pro drive a marshmallow as far as he could. As it turns out, a marshmallow does not go very far when smacked with a golf club. The golf pros were great. They offered to provide some really good prizes for participants of our fundraiser competition, which was unexpected and very awesome. One of the golf pros happened to have type 2. That didn't hurt as far as gaining their support.

Back in fundraising mode, I sent out a bunch of emails to whatever business or restaurant or organization that is on my mind at the moment.  I do this, knowing that most likely all requests will be rejected. But if I can get just one ... we'll be in business. I'm waiting to hear back from Hair Cuttery and Groupon, but not holding my breath.

I wanted to create a new fundraising video, but Charlie wouldn't cooperate. I was trying to film a montage of Charlie cringing and yelping during site changes and sensor insertions. The diva he is, Charlie had all these special requirements before filming. For example, no butt shots. It's so difficult working with diabetics. Even worse, once the camera was on him, he barely even let out a whimper. He just stood there and took it with a smile - like he was getting his shoes shined. I mean, how about some tears? A bit of howling? Maybe some begging and pleading to stop the torture ... work with me kid! I ended up scrapping the video.

On another note, if you notice a major decline in the amount of blog posts I produce, it's because of that damn TLC channel. I saw a show on Saturday night about people who enter thousands of sweepstakes per day and win all sorts of crazy prizes. Big mistake. I've been "sweeping" non-stop ever since.

If only there was a sweepstakes for a cure.
