I'm sorry for pulling a vanishing act of late. Things have been quite hectic and I feel like I'm constantly playing catch up this week. Diabetes hasn't been on my radar even though I'm checking my blood sugar and doing my insulin. I'm just not making it my every thought and seeing where my averages are.

A lot is changing in my life. Today, I'm recovering from having laser resurfacing for my acne scars. Full face of Fraxel Dual Restore at the more intense level. It's been an interesting experience and I'm very impatient to get through recovery and see results.

I went yesterday at 1pm to start the numbing process for my first treatment. I sat there around an hour and fifteen minutes reading and feeling my face get quite tingly. Then the procedure started. Some parts were quite painful (mainly my forehead and the outer parts of my face where I don't think the numbing cream had worked well) but overall, it really wasn't too excruciating.

My skin was immediately red like a moderate sunburn. I sat with ice on my face all evening and just tried to relax, read, and watch TV to ward off the swelling. Within 3 to 4 hours of the procedure, the intensity and pain had worn off. Even the redness started disappearing.

Today, I'm definitely seeing a lot of swelling though. The redness is still fading. My skin feels rough and my freckles are beginning to change. If the swelling would go away, I'd be a happy camper. I'm hopeful that by tomorrow, my skin will have repaired itself and the swelling with subside. Until then, I'm keeping my head elevated and ice on it as much as possible.

From what I've heard, this first treatment isn't so bad on recovery. I'm paid up for three total treatments, which is what I've been recommended in order to really fade my scars. I should expect 70% improvement, if not more. I'm excited for that, but annoyed by the recovery since it means staying inside with the ice and constantly putting Aquaphor ointment on my face to keep it moist. I can't imagine what the next two treatments will be like.

I will probably go back for the next treatment in early September and plan for another 4 day weekend. Then the next will be in mid-October. That means that by New Year's, I should see significant improvement in my pitted scars and only continue to get better. I can't wait for that day.

For now, I'm trying to keep the boredom at bay. I'm not a person that does well to stay cooped up in the house for several days. Give me one day of rest and relaxation, but after that, I just want out. So I'm praying that by Saturday night, I will be less swollen and feel like venturing out with Marvin for a movie. After all, there is only so much reading that one person can do.
