A couple of weeks ago, Kim over at Texting My Pancreas got together with a few other movers-and-shakers in the diabetes online community to create a project to support and encourage other people with diabetes. Called "You Can Do This", the project includes videos, blog posts, and artwork from people with diabetes, for people with diabetes.

It's sort of a crowdsourced Test! Don't Guess campaign, with two main rallying cries: "You can do this!" and "You are not alone".

It's not all unicorns and glitter.

Living with diabetes, we know there are hard times when no matter what you do, your blood glucose level will not go down, or not come up; when your HbA1c is not in line with your perfectly-logged blood glucose tests, carb counts, and insulin (and/or other drug) doses, when Larry Bird on the court gives you "Larry Bird" on the OneTouch, the Diabetes Police have locked up your kitchen more securely than a bank vault, and you're being served eviction papers because your last umpteen paychecks went to pay the doctors and druggists.

Even so, we know we're not the only ones to have experienced this. We've been through it before, and will go through it again. We know we can survive this: we have already done so. And when the going gets tough, we have... each other. We have the dLife forums, the dLife community, we have Twitter, Diabetes Social Media Advocacy (#dsma), we have TuDiabetes, DiabeticConnect, Diabetic Rockstar, Diabetes Daily, Sisters With Diabetes, and so on.

My contribution to this project can be found here. It's a bit long, and I don't have the equipment and video editing skills of many others here, but it's out there to share. Hopefully, some of you will also join in the project -- because we are not alone.
