How often do you worry about diabetes complications?

Earlier today, I wrote that I have faith in Karma.  Sometimes, Karma takes a long time to do its work.  Living every single day conscious of the actions I take and how they impact others, careful to be considerate of others' feelings, practicing empathy, and sometimes feeling like the world, in return, does nothing but work against me, I am not the biggest fan of the slower workings of Karma.  So, when it delivers in short order, I am often surprised.

Today, that happened.  I had called my doctor's office earlier in the week and emailed over bloodsugars to try to get help with the (mostly high) rollercoaster I'd been on.  I would've given anything to be able to see patterns myself in the numbers and adjust accordingly, but I just couldn't.  Having not heard back today, i decided to give a ring.  Turns out, my doc had already gotten some wheels turning and his office was going to call me this afternoon.

So, here's the deal.  Their office provided me with three bottles of Novolog.  These three bottles are meant to hold me over while my doc's office files a prior authorization (which could take up to two weeks to be approved) and then helps with a medical necessity claim that could bring the co-payment down on the medication.  Not having any idea that I could even do the latter, you can imagine my joy hearing that the doc's office was fully on board in trying to put things right.  Not only that, but no more short term worries - as I've got enough insulin to get me through a month and a bit.

I am so grateful to go in to this holiday weekend, which I know will prove to be busy, not worried about bloodsugars that are skyrocketing and a body that feels run over by a truck (license plate: 2-2- HIGH).  I am so grateful for providers who understand the difficulty of this disease and who go out of their way to be of assistance where they can.

I was happy this morning, tonight, I'm downright joyful!
