Last year was the first time I had ever done any sort of "walk." I've never been involved with any fund raising before. Heck, I was not even into taking care of myself which is why I call my personal blog "the B.A.D. blog" with the BAD meaning "born again diabetic."

The team name I came up year last year was "Team Beat the Bete!" and take a look at the sweet logo and t-shirts we made!

Well I have decided once again to call the troops to join me in a walk this November to raise money for diabetes research and any other "diabeticy goodness" that the American Diabetes Association deems fit.

If you check out the Walk Center homepage from last year you will see our team was on the top 10 of most funds raised and yours truly listed on the individual walker top 10! There is also a picture of us on the page!

It was really moving for me last year to be actually doing something about this disease. It was also so great to have my family, friends, co-workers walking with and supporting me.

My employer started a donation matching program where they matched 100% of all donations made from our company. We are not a big group of people but every person who works here donated which pretty much had me walking around here with a lump in my throat for quite some time.

After last years experience I would love to challenge all people with, affected by, reading this, and whom every has consumed a carbohydrate to get involved in some aspect. I wish diabetes would just go away but for now, we need money so people can find a cure.

I just realized that if I found a genie in a lamp I would have "go away diabetes" as one of my wishes. And "chocolate be a weight loss food."
