The scale says I've gained about six pounds back since October. But my body doesn't feel that way. Especially this last week, which is especially annoying because I've been running more consistently of late.

I'm not sure my problem is actually gaining weight though. Four pounds probably is. But I think at least two is water weight...from my birth control.

My rings are constantly too tight. My skin feels stretched. And I just feel blah overall.

Since I'm changing pills starting Sunday to one that is supposed to help with water retention, I'm really hopeful that I'll drop a pound or two fairly soon. Otherwise, I don't know what to do.

I know the usual water retention routines. Lots of water, low salt, magnesium and B6 supplements. I've done it all. Nothing seems to really help. And hormonally, it should be receding by now. But it doesn't feel that way.

It seems worse in my abdomen, which is aggravated by the fact that I've been doing all my injections in my stomach for several months now. Wherever I do injections, I always see inflammation/weight gain. I'm just not sure where to switch to. Arms are out now. Legs hurt. How about my big toe?

My other concerns are that this isn't hormonal. I have a problem eating protein. I just don't usually want it and I really only like fish and chicken regularly. Lack of protein can cause water retention, although I doubt mine would be severe enough to cause extensive swelling. It's still a concern though.

I've never really had this problem before. My PMS symptoms never included water retention. And otherwise, my body seemed to function fine. So it's an annoying new development that I'm just not sure how to handle.

I guess I'll continue to drink as much water as possible and wait to see what this new birth control does. I also have some prescription diuretics that helped some puffiness I had before, that I didn't even notice. I'm tempted to take them just to see if they help. I just feel so uncomfortable, so at my wit's end. And I do not feel like going to Europe in this state.

18 hour flights and water retention...not a good combo.
