What are you thinking about right now? Is it the color purple? Because that's what you should be thinking about right now. Purple. Now it's everywhere, right? All of a sudden it seems to be everywhere you look. See, right there? No, on your left. It's purple.
Everywhere.
That's what I've been dealing with for the last roughly five months -- finally being able to put my finger on something and then it's freaking everywhere. Earlier this year I had a "routine" ultrasound on my thyroid. I've been taking medication for more than 10 years because of my thyroid and my new endo is the first doctor to ever suggest I have an ultrasound.
At first Mom and I dismissed it as just another way for the doctor's office to get money. But when the doctor found a thyroid nodule (which are apparently pretty common) I was really glad I had gone ahead with the ultrasound.
Remember how sucky it was to have the biopsy on the nodule? Yeah, well, I do. And then top it off with getting a "non diagnostic" diagnosis (i.e., the doctor couldn't get enough cells out of that honkin' nodule to tell if it's just a nodule or if it's malignant).
So since the nodule wasn't giving me trouble at the time we decided to do a repeat ultrasound in five months (that would be tomorrow) and make any decisions on what to do from here based on whether the nodule has grown and/or if I'm having trouble.
Look! Purple!
So, yeah, since the last ultrasound I've all of a sudden noticed "stuff" that I couldn't really attribute to anything in the past. That funky knotish feeling in my throat... could it be the nodule? Yikes, I feel like there's a monster frog in my throat... could it be the nodule? Ow! Weird, freakish pain in my neck out of nowhere... the nodule? Purple!
Anyway. I won't have the results of the ultrasound until next week, but I'm very interested to discuss all these "new" feelings with Dr. R (I'll see the actual endo this time since my nurse practioner is on maternity leave).
The ultrasound, not a big deal. A repeat biopsy? There may be alcohol involved.
