Quick! I need your help. Through work, I got the name of an account executive we deal with from the Red Bulls – the professional soccer team in New York. We're playing a bit of phone tag. He called me back and left a message asking me what exactly I had in mind as far as fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The problem is I don't know what I have in mind.

What do I have in mind?

I typically get really into the fundraising in the summer months leading to the Walk to Cure Diabetes in the fall. I knock on many doors, so to speak, and to be honest, the rejection one goes through in order to raise a fair amount of dough, does get exhausting after a while. Many emails go ignored and many phone calls go unreturned. After the walk, I slip into much-needed fundraising hibernation and don't emerge until June. My fellow board members at JDRF could probably attest to that.

But now this. The slightest whiff of opportunity and I feel like I'm back in the game. Energized, I then contacted a large nightclub in the area, again with no real concrete idea other than a possible all-night dance contest. I really want to have a rubber ducky race as well, but I just don't think it's going to happen this year. More research needed on that.

So I'm throwing this out to the very creative diabetes community before I call the guy from the Red Bulls back.

How can a professional sports team help us?
