Here I sit wearily, just my favorite meter and me.
Staring at a blood sugar of two hundred and thirty three.

I was happily rolling smooth, and on track all day today.
But now am confusedly flustered and in the grips of dismay.

How did my glucose get to be so darn high?

I know my tubeless pump is secured firmly to my thigh.

It wasn't the early lunch of carb free salad with chicken.
Guess I should have just had water or stuck to lime wedge lickin'.

Time to punch in a bolus and get some more insulin to flow.

Oh hell, I don't have my pump's controller- where oh where did it go!?

It is not in my bag, there's no bulge in my front pant pocket,

As if it got lifted away, fired to some distant land in a rocket.

That's just perfect timing- I'm stuck here at work!

Can't believe I left it at home, I feel like such a jerk!

Busy busy busy, while drinking cups and cups of water.

The temperature isn't going up, but I'm feeling quite a bit hotter!

Unzip the meter bag, do another test just to see.

Holy hell my blood glucose has shot up to three hundred sixty three.

Boy do I feel hungry, too bad there is no carb-less food.

I'll just wait for work to be over and try to slip into a better mood.

Make it back home finally- look to my dresser and what do I see?

A lonely OmniPod controller patiently waiting there for me.

Bolus, bolus, bolus-quickly try to get my numbers in check.
Look in the mirror with unpleasant results because my eyesight is a wreck.

A couple hours pass, and a quick finger stick is happy to agree,

That my blood is flowing smoothly without excess glucose to bother me.

Now where did I leave those snacks, my belly is loudly yelling at me.

Time to fill up my stomach smartly and keep my blood stream flowing free!
