Thanks to En Vogue for those lyrics. We got back from vacation late Friday night but I'm still feeling my way back to my "new normal".
10 days in New Mexico in a travel trailer with kids (ages 4 & 1) - it went really well! Yes, that's shock you see in my punctuation! We went places and saw people and ran, ran, ran. The weather was beautiful, highs hovering around 80. They have gotten a lot of rain and some Dolly-effect flooding this summer, so it was quite lush by New Mexico standards.
Unfortunately, I didn't replace my workouts as I had hoped I would. Read that as "hoped, but didn't make definite plans for ahead of time." I need to remember that for the future. On the plus side, I was much more active than usual.
Sugars have been pretty ok (when I test), but I did run myself up high a few afternoons with dietary indiscretions (as my CDE calls them). I'm sure the worsening cold didn't help either.
My cold came back from vacation as bronchitis. I have been trying to rest but today I had a pre-paid trainer session at the gym, so I went and worked out. I think the light workout did make me feel better. I had been going 5 and a half weeks consistently before we left so I asked my trainer Jinx, how long it would take to recover from the 2 weeks off he said just a week. I think it will be 2, given my illness.
My motivation has waned a bit. Usually I'm good for about 6 weeks of a regular exercise program, then I fizzle. I really don't want that to happen this time. What tactics have you taken to make exercise happen regularly?
This time, I have the kid's room at the gym, so that's 1 hour kid free which is a good enticement. Kate loves it and naps really well the days I go. I'm also trying to make it just a regular part of the morning, drop the son off at pre-school and off to the gym. I failed this morning at that, having to make another stop at home. That leads to my sleep challenges lately, but I digress. I have set goals with my trainer and pre-paid for 10 weeks of sessions with him.
A google of "Making exercise part of your life" turns up some interesting reading. I'll do some research and get back to you. Meanwhile, what has worked for you?

I started going to a women's only gym where I feel comfortable and have made friends. It helps to know that there will be friendly faces when I get there. :)
I went to one that I really liked, until they went out of business. I'm glad it's working for you too.
