Carey Potash

Carey is a full-time hater of diabetes. The benefits stink. His 7-year-old son, Charlie, has been giving he and his wife the finger since November of 2003. Carey's parenting humor has appeared in various websites and print magazines. He resides in the suburbs of Philadelphia with his wife and three children.

Thanks guys. Yes, dantonyc, we know the urine strips all too well. We typically prick his finger for ketones while he sleeps. Hard to get him to pee when he's in deep sleep. Potentially messy as well. Regarding syringes -As instructed by Charlie's doctors, we don't mess around when he's seriously high and has ketones. We go right for the syringe. Too many things can go wrong when bolusing through pump. Why take chance. Shot to the arm brings him down faster than a bolus via pump. Infusion was in fact crusty with blood that could have been 4-5 hours old. Not sure about the dream analysis. Maybe. Wondering if the toilet paper had anything to do with the fact that we recently vandalized my neighbor's car, covering it in toilet paper.

We use the Onetouch and occasionally download data via Carelink. We tend to print these sheets out before endo appointments, but not so much on a regular basis. That's our problem. Somehow I think we get more out of doing it old school (paper and pencil).

Great post, Lindsey.

Thanks Bernard. It seems as if the Tamiflu lessened the severity of the flu. The boys started taking Tamiflu early on and are doing better than the girl, who wasn't on Tamiflu. Something to think about for those out there with young kids or kids with diabetes who get hit with this nasty flu.

Thank you all so much! Last night was really frightening. I mean, really frightening. Still early yet, but tonight seems better. The boys are coughing less and have lower fevers and are sleeping peacefully at the moment. The girl is another story. This has hit her the hardest. Fever keeps creeping up to 104 now on day 4. Oh, and now Susanne has it. Ugh!
P-A-R-T-Y. I greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We're hanging in there.

Becky, your haikus struck a chord as well. Great job. I wish we had a prize for everyone.

The professor and I have our work cut out for us. Excellent haikus so far, everyone!

Damn! It is on!

Nicole ain't messin' around, folks. Wow! Great ones from Dantony and tmana as well. Keep 'em coming.

On Post: Toxic Nights

Thanks guys. Good tips. Charlie is feeling much better today.

Thanks Brenda. I'm certainly in no rush for those teen years.

Kerri - Thank you!

George - Thanks! It means a lot coming from you. I've read enough of your posts to know that you're the real deal when it comes to being a dad and enjoying every bit of your kids.

Romans8 - I second that! Thank you!
