Fiction. No and no. If you feel sick, drink plenty of fluids and eat sensibly, enough to satisfy your appetite. Illness of any sort can play games with your blood sugar levels, which may cause you to over- or under treat your diabetes. You need to be vigilent during illness. Check blood glucose levels, maintain hydration, and, if you have type 1, check ketones. Be sure blood sugar levels stay in check. Call your health care provider if you need help.
