June 2nd 2007 - TCOYD - Taking Control Of Your Diabetes Conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA. Taking Control Of Your Diabetes, 501(c)3, (TCOYD), a nationally recognized not-for-profit diabetes educational organization, invites people with diabetes, as well as those at risk for diabetes and their loved ones, to a full day of seminars, workshops and one-on-one opportunities with leading experts in diabetes care to conferences across the country in 2007. TCOYD's Mission is to educate and motivate people with diabetes and their loved ones, to take a more active role in their condition, in order to live healthier, happier, and more productive lives.

June 5th 2007 - Aurora Travel Tips for People With Diabetes Program from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This program will show how to get through security with diabetes supplies, how to prepare for travel with having diabetes, what types of foods to pack and how to keep from getting low blood sugar. June 10th 2007 - 10th Annual Rip’s Bikers Against Diabetes (BAD) Ride: Rip's B.A.D Ride-Bikers Against Diabetes-is a motorcycle fund-raising ride and family festival of the American Diabetes Association. This event unites the biker nation in the fight against diabetes with a full day of great riding, big entertainment, delicious food, lots of activities and a good vibe! This event will be held in Irvine, CA.

June 10th 2007 - Tom Seabourne, Ph.D will be the first type 1 diabetic to compete in the grueling bicycle Race Across America (RAAM) in the solo division. He will be riding about 22 hours a day (300 miles) for 10 days from Oceanside, CA to Atlantic City, NJ. The entire race is over 3000 miles (about twice the distance of the Tour de France, but riders will cover the distance in half the time.) His goal is to demonstrate that diabetes is an inconvenience, but exercise (along with medication) is the best way to manage blood glucose.

June 16th 2007 - The Longest Day Ride (bicycling) from High Point, NJ to Cape May, NJ. 205 miles. Sponsored by Central Jersey Bicycle Club. We also have a double metric (135 miles) and a Century (100 miles) ride starting points along the way. I rode the entire event in '99 and my wife and I rode our semi-recumbent "special" tandem from our house in Edison to Cape May in '04 for 150 miles. This is a great way to see the wonderful state of NJ and it is "all down hill" says the former President of CJBC.
