The Woodford County monthly Diabetic Clinic offers educational programs for diabetics or people who care for a diabetic. Topics vary each month and cover the latest about exchange lists, snacks, holiday foods, menu planning, low sodium & low cholesterol diets and a variety of othert topics of interest. August 17-18th 2007 - Watermelon Stampede Against Diabetes in Muscatine, Iowa. The event will raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the scholarship portion for the Miss Muscatine program.
August 25th 2007 - American Diabetes Association Diabetes Expo/WTAE-TV Healthy 4 Life Expo at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
August 25th 2007 - This will be my 4th year riding the century (100 miles!) in the JDRF Ride for a Cure. I've participated in the Death Valley event 3 years in a row and this year I'm trying out the Whitefish, Montana route. This year I have a team to make the trip with me, as well, and each of us must raise $4,000 minimum to participate. This location has a limit of only 200 riders. I was diagnosed with type 1 in 1983 at 11-years-old, and when I hit my 20 year mark I decided to do something big and started riding for the cure. I've been pumping since 1994. August 26th 2007 - 10th Annual Rip’s Bikers Against Diabetes (BAD) Ride: Rip's B.A.D Ride-Bikers Against Diabetes-is a motorcycle fund-raising ride and family festival of the American Diabetes Association. This event unites the biker nation in the fight against diabetes with a full day of great riding, big entertainment, delicious food, lots of activities and a good vibe! This event will be held in St. Louis, LA.
