Dan Reichert Biography

Daniel Riechert was born on July 12, 1976 in Monterey, California. He is a Major League baseball player as a right hand pitcher. After graduating college at University of Pacific in 1994, Reichert was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. A few years later, the Kansas City Royals drafted him. It didn’t take long, only 3 years, until he made his debut career with the Kansas City Royals on July 16, 1999. Reichert finished his year with a 9.08 ERA. Reichert was only 23. 

Reichert was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1998.

"I was kind of worried about it (being diagnosed with Diabetes). My mom jumped on the Internet to find out more about the disease, and I found out a lot of [other athletes] have it. I'm an easy-going kind of guy, so I said, 'I'm not going to let this beat me; I'll beat it.' It's just a bump in the road for me and I try to keep a positive attitude about it."
