Inspiration And Expert Advice: Famous People

Chris Dudley - NBA player
DOB: February 22, 1965
Diabetes Type:  Type 1

At 6 feet 11 inches tall, Chris Dudley is a former NBA player. His ability to play in 886 games in his career while living with diabetes earned him a lot of respect. Dudley began playing for Cleveland Cavaliers in 1987-1988 NBA season, but was later traded.  Due to his immense amount of injuries Dudley was traded a lot during his career and played for many NBA teams. The different teams include the New Jersey Nets, the Portland Trail Blazers, The New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns.

Dudley has taken insulin since 1981 when he was diagnosed with diabetes; he was only sixteen. The disease, however, did not stop his desire to play.

Inspiration: "If you want to play sports, you can play sports," he says. "Don't let diabetes stop you. But, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't take care of your condition." (quoted in Diabetes Health - http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read,1025,2242.html)
