Bio: Bill Talbert was a famous American tennis player and administrator. Talbert has achieved many accomplishments throughout his tennis career including: ranked the Top 10 thirteen times between 1941 and 1954, he won 9 Grand Slam double titles, and he was a top winner out of all captains as a Davis Cup player.
Before Talbert’s career was kicked off, he played for the University of Cincinnati, where he was born and raised. He would later become among the first class to be inducted into the Cincinnati Tennis Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1967. Eventually Talbert’s career as a professional tennis player came to and end, but that didn’t stop him from surrounding himself from the sport he loved. He began to write tennis books and was Tournament Director of the US Open.
Talbert died at his home in Manhattan. He was 80.
