Daily Tips
Checking your feet on a daily basis and correctly taking care of them can prevent major complications down the road.
- Make it a part of your daily routine to check your feet for signs of abrasions, blisters or other problems. Use a mirror if necessary.
- Do not pop or break blisters, as it will increase your risk of infection.
- Corns and calluses are best left to the professionals for treatment.
- To prevent ingrown toenails, clip nails straight across. You can smooth out any sharp corners with an emery board.
- Wear socks and be sure to keep your feet moisturized but dry between the toes.
Remember to visit your podiatrist at least once a year for a foot exam, and talk to her about the self-care routine that’s right for you.
