Daily Tips
If you’re experiencing lows without any of the usual symptoms of hypoglycemia, you may have hypoglycemic unawareness. This is a potentially dangerous condition because you may not recognize a blood sugar low until you lose consciousness and need emergency medical assistance.People with hypopglycemic unawareness often have to test their blood glucose levels more frequently to avoid lows. Their healthcare team may also suggest that they set their blood glucose targets slightly higher than those without the condition, also in an effort to avoid lows. In some cases, purposely running blood glucose levels higher than normal for a period of time will reverse the condition.
