Growing Epidemic of Diabetes
Seven percent of Americans – 20.8million – have diabetes. Of these 20.8 million, 6.2 million are unaware they have the disease. In addition, over 41 million are at risk for the condition. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is 1.7 times higher in Latinos and 1.8 times higher in African Americans than in non-Latino whites.
About the “Put Diabetes Control in the Palm of Your Hand” Tour
The makers of Glucerna® Bars and Shakes and FreeStyle® blood glucose monitoring systems have teamed up for the second year for a mobile marketing program aimed at encouraging the 20.8 million Americans living with diabetes to learn how to “Put Diabetes Control in the Palm of Your Hand”. The tour will offer free samples of Glucerna products, and FreeStyle® blood glucose monitoring demonstrations while educating and providing tips and tools on how people living with diabetes can learn how to better control their disease with diet, exercise, and regular blood glucose monitoring.
