Do diabetics reach for and drink from something red more than other colors? Do you think it is a good method for emergency care in the field?

How do I bring down my sugar level if I don't have any insulin?
Right now it is 256. What level is it necessary for me to go to emeregency room of hospital.
I have COPD and right now I am sick with bronchitis and I am on steriods and cough medicine with codine. I am not on any diabetic meds.
I have a Drs. appt. tomorrow.
