I have a tattoo on my left inside wrist of the medic alert symbol with medic alert there as well. (medic-symbol-alert)....I plan to have what I am allergic to written the rest of the way around my wrist.... the tat looks like a bracelet.... I love it and I don't have to wear those ugly necklaces anymore. (I am 50 years young.)

So I've been looking into getting a medical ID bracelet and can't find one that I like. I think it would be a fantastic idea to get the medical alert symbol and the word Diabetic as a tatoo on my wrist! Maybe we could start something new? =)

I have a fantastic tatoo done at age 60, by none other than the GREAT Kat Von D formerly of Miami Ink. I had absolutely no problems at all albeit I have type 2! I would say getting tatooed depends on the professional level and cleanliness of the person doing the tat!

I love the medic alert tattoo idea. I was thinking of doing the same. I have several tattoos and was told by my Dr. not to get anymore. I did anyway and had no issues. As long as you are in good control and take good care of your new tat while it's healing it was no problem.
