Very superstitious? Do you consider it an omen if you get three bad test strips in a row, or do you have…::shudder::… a lucky lancet? If, as the song says, “you believe in things that you don’t understand” when it comes to your diabetes, we want to here about them this Friday the 13th. Comment below!

I have been type 2 for 21 years now. I normally don't change lancets until I change to a new meter. The last one lasted me for four years. My diabetes educator says that so far I haven't infected myself.

I don't believe in luck. I've lived with Type 1 Diabetes for almost 50 years and I know luck has nothing to do with bg and whether it's high or low.

I've been on an insulin pump for almost 8 years, so when I get an off reading I check my pump and infusion site. I finally am able to figure out what the problem is and resolve it.

I have been a type two diabetic for several years. I know the feeling that all of you get when your first told of this. I call it horror.

I was a musician for 25 years and played drums for many stars. I had traveled the United States and Canada so many times on tour bus that I knew the moose name in Canada and knew all the arenas and larger venues that we played time and time again. I lived ten years of my life on a tour bus with people like Mark Chesnutt, George Strait, etc.

With proper care and a good doctors that CARE and have not forgotten that oath they took many years ago before they became so cold to people and their needs, I found it easy to start a program of learning how to eat and take care of myself even though none of it is easy, it IS something you can do, and live a long a healthy life. My fear as a musician was that they would cut off my feet and I would no longer be able to do what I love which is play drums.

So if your new to diabetes or an old pro, take care of your self, and live with diabetes, and don't let diabetes live you. Life go's on trust me.

See my web site a www.rdmcompany.homestead.com and read what I've done with my life as a diabetic. I hope this helps someone. And feel free to email me anytime to talk.

Take care....now lets go walk ok??

I love friday the 13th; it's always been lucky for me, but just in case-I turn around in a circle three times before testing, and it was great today!

No, I do not consider it bad luck. I am concerned however, when it goes up and I don't know why. I try very hard to maintain and keep it under 130. I also am in need of some food guidelines. Hope to find out since I recently found a diabetis group at a local hospital.

I don't believe in "luck".God is in control of all things, but we can have an impact on the things that happen in our lives by the choices we make. We must do everything possible to learn as much as possible about diabetes(it's effects, treatments and how to control it - until a CURE is found). We actually consider friday the 13th a good day because I was diagnosed on friday march 13 1998(which meant i wouldnt be soo sick anymore because they knew what was wrong so they could help me get better).

I dont leave things to chance, if I can help it. If by the grace of God, my sugars are too high or too low, I try to understand and write down why. There are so many learning techniques on the computer and in books, we must read it. Thanks for a great show! I love it.

I am not normally a supersticious person, but I reminded my husband today that is was Friday the 13th, and to be careful. As soon as he got out in his patrol car, it broke down. Now he is waiting for the wrecker.

We must do everything we can to learn as much as possible about diabetes, it's effects, treatments, and how to control it - until THE CURE.
