I also am being treated for high blood pressure and take cholestorol medicine. I am currently having difficulty with leg and foot swelling. Is anyone out there having those problems?? I know I have neoropathy in these areas, and sometimes it is so severe I miss work."

Please check with your doctor as much as you may not like to. My husband is developing kidney failure and was having the same problems. He does not like working with any doctor. I urge you to form a team between you, your doctor and an endocrinologist. If you're like my husband you don't want to check as much as you should or consult with a doctor. My sage advice to you is to consider an insulin pump there is a new one from medtronics that has a continual blood glucose monitoring system to avoid fingersticks. You have two sites to change about every 4 days but it is the closest thing to having a normal pancrease. I know, my daughter has juvenile and has had her pump for about 3 months. We wouldn't go back to injections for anything. But seriously it sounds like you may be having problems with your kidneys.

God Bless you and good luck.

I've had the same problem with swelling and find that the culprit is usually too much salt in my diet. I'm on avandia & humalog, as well as a whole pharmacy of other drugs for other problems, including hypertension and cholosterol problems.

Are you in control? What does your doctor say? What oral medicaitons are you on? My ankles swell when my sugar gets about 130, but everyone is different. I'm on 2000 mg of metiformin and 10 units of Lantus. I also take a multi-vit, 1000 mg of cinnamin, and chromium. My last A1C was 5.7.

I too have type 2 and what has helped me is a new blood pressure pill called hyzaar it was developed for people with type 2 also a lotion I have found called diabet aid really helps with the pain and tingling in my feet and legs. With the new pill I don't swell as much.
