I think the newsmagazine format is great. The information is presented in an informative and helpful way, and although the J. Anthony Brown piece was a bit stilted, it was funny and provided a nice counter to the direct presentation of hard facts. The whole show was much less saccharine and easier to digest (pun entirely intended!) than the previous cheerleading-inspired format.
