November is National Diabetes Month
National Diabetes Month is here. With the recent news from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control that diabetes now impacts almost 21 million Americans, dLife thought this was a good time to send the message home that better diabetes control, and a bigger investment in the search for a cure, are more critical than ever. Throughout the month of November dLife is running the Care & A Cure Giveaway. Every day, we'll give away a FreeStyle Flash blood glucose monitor and a month's worth of testing strips to one lucky dLife Community Member. And for each new member that joins the dLife Community, we'll donate $1.00 to diabetes research. You can enter to win by signing up as a new member or visiting your dLife Profile if you're already part of our community.

Thanks for raising public awareness on this important issue. Thought you might like to check out the American Foundation for the Blind's National Diabetes Awareness Month blog series. We're talking a lot about the need to make insulin pumps, glucose meters and blood pressure monitors accessible to people who are blind or have low vision -- especially given the fact that one third of people with diabetes experience vision loss... anyway, thought you guys may like to see it. Keep up the great work!

The Board of Christian Education of my church held a Diabetes Sunday on Nov.30,2005. I collected Diabetes recipes from the web and each Board member took at least three and prepared them for the congregation. We invited everyone (diabetic & non-diabetics) down to the Fellowship Hall to sample the repast. They could take the recipes if they liked the dish. We ran out of everything!!!

I have purchased several blood pressure monitors before. And chose Omron Portable Wrist one, light, comfortable easy to operate. WBR LeoP
